This project is a short animated Instagram Reel created to celebrate WRAS Radio’s 55th anniversary. Designed for a social media format, the animation highlights the station’s history through a playful and celebratory lens. By combining motion, illustration, and bold graphic timing, the piece delivers a message that marks both the birthday milestone and the years of creative broadcasting behind WRAS.
What is
Album 88?
Album 88 is a long-running college radio station known for its independent music culture and strong visual identity. The station has built a recognizable brand through its iconic cat character, bold typography, and experimental graphic style. These elements reflect Album 88’s creative spirit and its role as a platform for emerging music, community voices, and student-led broadcasting.
Storyboard
The storyboard maps out the animation sequence from countdown to celebration. Each frame was planned to control pacing, visual rhythm, and transitions, ensuring the narrative builds anticipation before revealing the anniversary message. Simple compositions and clear motion cues were used to translate the concept smoothly into a short-form social media animation.
Styleframe
The styleframe establishes the visual direction using WRAS’s iconic cat character, high-contrast graphics, and a retro-inspired countdown aesthetic. Hand-drawn linework and bold typography were paired with limited color accents to maintain visual clarity in motion. The final frames emphasize energy and playfulness while keeping the focus on the anniversary message and brand identity.
